August: ‘The Knowledge Keepers’ and ‘Disaster-zone research needs a code of conduct’

August Resources Announced

We meet once every two months to reflect on books, short readings, films, podcasts, and other incredible resources all relating to diverse experiences of climate induced disasters, major community disruptors and climate adaptation. We aim to bring our community together to listen and learn from one another, and to gain incredible insights that will broaden our knowledge and understandings on familiar or unfamiliar themes.

The Knowledge Keepers (documentary on SBS), 2025

In a changing climate, this powerful documentary draws on some 65 thousand years of Indigenous knowledge, to help us better prepare for the future. When a group of children gather round a campfire to hear stories from First Nation practitioners about our rapidly changing climate, they are taken on a journey of discovery.  Traversing the country, we are introduced to storytellers who draw on the past to help us prepare for the future. With thought provoking questions and answers, we learn about cultural practices for Fire, Flood, Heat, and weather preparedness.

"Knowledge is only powerful when it's shared." Den Barber - Cultural Fire Practitioner
