During the February Get-Together, a conversation around disaster commemorations and memorial emerged. It would be helpful if we could continue a dialogue here around what some communities have experienced from lived expeirence, along with local council and emergency services contributions.

Hello DisasterWISE Community :) just stumbled across this AIDR/Red Cross Webinar on "Putting 'community' in community recovery committee" - Malcolm from Strathewen is the first speaker and he highlights some incredibly valuable take-aways from the experience of Strathewen's community-led recovery post Black Saturday. Some insights include; democratic approaches to committee nominations, defining community and membership, the power of connection in overcoming obstacles, long term recovery and reimaging futures. Well worth the watch when thinking about processes, community agency and action!
