Don’t miss out on the October DisasterWISE Communities Network Get-Together with Bhiamie Williamson and Emma McNicol, PhD from the National Indigenous Disaster Resilience program next Thursday (10th of October), online from 1pm (AEST). This will be a great opportunity to participate in an informal community-led conversation, sharing stories and insights from The Gathering 2024 and NIDR research.

Bhiamie is a Euahlayi man from north-west New South Wales. He is the Program Lead for National Indigenous Disaster Resilience (NIDR) research program. Bhiamie has been widely published, writing about the unique impacts of disasters on Indigenous peoples.

Emma is a feminist philosopher, educator and researcher, whose practice centres trauma-informed, culturally safe community engagement. At NIDR, Emma’s research is improving outcomes for Indigenous people and their connection to Country in the context of the climate crisis. She has extensive experience in qualitative research in gender equality, family violence prevention and Indigenous experiences of bushfire.
