<p>VIRTUAL REALITY TO ASSIST WITH EMOTIONAL PREPARATION FOR BUSHFIRE & ANTICIPATING. I just read about this and wondered what everyone’s thoughts are on Virtual Reality as a disaster preparedness tool: It might be interesting to know that the University of South Australia has already researched this potential with encouraging findings. (See the article here) In the article, reference is made to the importance of anticipating the high-stress state experienced when responding to a bushfire. Physical preparation is crucial, but a piece of the puzzle is missing without emotional preparation. Maintaining the capacity to think and act effectively during a potentially life-threatening disaster is vital.
