Despite the bureau having not officially declared el-nino, we know that this summer is going to be an intense bushfire season. It’s time to prepare, but what does this look like at a community-level? What ideas and initiatives can you share in this forum that may assist other communities?

Bushfire Resilience Institute are running a series of webinars to help people prepare for bushfires. There is a list of the events and dates here https://bushfireresilience.org.au/

Thanks Pete – Bushfire Resilience Inc have a great range of resources by community, for community. The most recent seminar on preparing for an El-Nino summer was really useful. You can watch the recording here: https://bushfireresilience.org.au/webinar-recordings/2023-webinar-2/ They also have a resource HUB of previous webinar recordings.

Just read this article about a community-led preparedness scenario in Hobart; https://amp.abc.net.au/article/102866180

Our Community (Dawesley) has been coming together in the barn of one of our community leaders and having short sessions with our local CFS community enagement person. We have been working on household preparedness and preparedness as clusters of neighbours including knowing and supporting each other’s plans.
Our next big goal is our plan at a community level.

Thanks for the article I will share this idea with my community. Might help us with our goal of a community level preparedness plan.
